Introducing Tinkering Artisans

Hello to all of our family, friends and soon to be friends.  We are Mike and Debi Bartley.  Our small farm is located in western Pennsylvania in the Laurel Highlands.  Everywhere we look there is inspiration to create something - horses, cows, pigs, chickens/roosters, beautiful farmhouses and barns, flora and fauna, tractors and old cars and some of the most wonderful folks you will ever meet.  We are blessed to live where this beauty surrounds us.

Following retirement and several "big adventures", three grown grandchildren and one brand new granddaughter we have decided to settle down to enjoy some of our favorite hobbies.  Mike tinkers around in the barn, otherwise known as "the tinkertorium", where he welds horseshoe decor with the supervision of two horses, a mini, a burro, and sometimes a couple of cats.  Mike makes horseshoe wreaths, shelf brackets, bathroom towel and tissue holders, hooks, wine racks and whatever else he can think of.  Right now I've asked him to make me some garden flowers from the shoes and some rebar and some specially designed wine racks.

Debi is always tinkering with something from decorative art on a vintage chair to burlap wreaths.  She also decorates Mike's horseshoe wreaths, makes beaded horseshoes, beaded horse art serving pieces, dishes, and jewelry.  Whatever is fun and new Debi will try. Check in often to see what funkey, new  item Mike and Debi will be horsin' around with.

Our current art is displayed and for sale at the new Twisted Vine in Ligonier, PA.  The owners, Aimee and Misty are the delightful owners of this business filled with crafted items for all tastes (the wine items are amazing) . The distinctive array of items you will find at this fun and funky store include antiques, hand-painted furniture, jewelry, beaded silver serving pieces, hidden gun safe and jewelry cases, clothing and some of the best gift items you will find anywhere.  You must stop by soon.

  1. We have added many new "horse art" pictures to our merchant space at the Twisted Vine Eclectic Market.
Stop in - the shop is located right on Rt 30 just before the Colonial Inn (closed now). This is the shop to find lots of wonderful treasures. Antiques, a wine accessory area, super great old photos of maybe your hometown.
I just found two old pieces done by a Ligonier artist. His name is Eric Zimmerman. He was a talented artist who carved beautiful wooden horses and wrote a book on how to carve horses which he illustrated himself. Please stop in and take a look at two pieces he did displayed in my area. We would like to know more about Mr. Zimmerman and if he has any relatives still in the area. Call or visit Twisted Vine of post here. Thanks so much.
